Time to move on. I have been wasting so much energy on being angry about my upbringing that one minute I graduated high school then before I knew it my 23rd birthday had arrived. One thing that helped me through the hard times was a pencil and a piece of paper. I met poetry and we have been best friends ever since. When my ears first heard Tupac all I heard was a poem being told over music. My love affair with words had been born. Perseverance has been essential in my journey to climb the mountain that only few could say have reached the top but if they can do it so can I. Studying rhythm and calculating how many syllables can fit in a measure and listening to all types of music over the years has made me truly appreciate the art. I began to create poems that I converted into songs and hip hop fit my style like a glove. I don’t care for stereotypes or cliches God put me here to entertain. So I made the transition from writing songs to performing them provided I was able to find a venue that would want a (then) inexperienced kid who had no idea how to perform but had great lyrics. Corey Tauriac a producer out of Spring Texas was very blunt about what I needed to do to have a stage presence. I listened and adjusted and sought venues which I got. I frequented open mic nights all over Houston and competed in local hip hop events and talent competitions in which I did fairly well. Local artists in the Houston area began to become familiar with me and a certain Ivo (Iivan Hardie of Major Flow Music) took me under his wing and really showed me what the pros and cons of the industry can be like. Encouraging words about my talent became so frequent I decided to actually follow what had already been in my heart since the day I found out that words can be put together to form a rhyme. Music has more power when the lyrics in a song have the ability to motivate encourage and help somebody think about their situation and sometimes can help the listener realize maybe things arent so bad after all. Laughter is key to feeling good so I gotta sprinkle some fun on some of my music because I just cant be serious all the time. Music is entertainment. And I am an entertainer.
