A chance opening for Sammy Kershaw at Pitman New Jerseys historic Broadway Theatre in 2006 was the first step in what has since become Country recording artist SHERRY LYNN’s journey of a thousand miles. Of course I’ve traveled a lot further than that laughs Lynn. But it is a very true saying. It’s all in that first step! That step has indeed taken Sherry quite a long way. To date her journey has led to three Top 40 hits from her current CD A BEAUTIFL LIFE: What A Day To Shake A Heartache the title-track duet with Country icon Crystal Gayle and her newest chart-active single/video Girls Will Be Girls. Lynn’s path has also found her sharing the stage with Miranda Lambert The Oak Ridge Boys LeAnn Rimes Randy Hauser Gene Watson John Rich Chris Young and more.
The vivacious vocalist made her Grand Ole Opry debut last year when she and Crystal performed their duet for excited fans in Music City. Sherry also entertained audiences during the week of CMA Music Festival 2013 and this year she performed at the ATT U-verse and Nashville Convention Visitors Corp. Festival stages. While she was in Nashville she also took time out to sit down for a visit with Kelly Lynn host of the popular program INSIDE MUSIC ROW. With a reach of 100 MILLION homes the fascinating interview put Lynn before a multitude of new fans.
It all seems unreal sometimes says the entertainer. You go on a show like that and it reaches so many people its crazy. In reality Im a mom with five kids and I still do all the things that regular folks do. I just happen to sing for a living.
A native of Woodbury New Jersey Sherry now splits her time between her home state and the bright lights of Nashville Tennessee. I do have to be in Nashville quite a bit explains the lovely brunette. But I do still love to play for the ‘hometown’ crowds. In fact Sherry recently performed two shows during the National Special Olympics Games being held in the Princeton New Jersey area.
The songs she sings are primarily from her current CD which was produced by Ted Hewitt the studio wizard behind Rodney Atkins’ string of hits Crystal Gayle’s son Christos Gatzimos engineered the project. The disc features tunes by stellar songwriters like Danny Wells (Check Yes Or No These Days) Kelley Lovelace who (with Wells) co-penned Girls Will Be Girls and wrote eight Brad Paisley 1s and ASCAP 2009 Songwriter of the Year Ashley Gorley who took Carrie Underwood to the top with All-American Girl and Good Girl. Also contributing are Edward Monroe Hill a George Strait hit-maker and Karyn Rochelle noted for writing Trisha Yearwood’s This Is Me You’re Talking To and Kelly Pickler’s I Wonder and Red High Heels.
I am so proud of this record Sherry states. I relate to the songs and they resonate with my audiences. The semi-autobiographical mix runs the gamut from light-hearted to soul-searching but consistent throughout are the heart-felt vocals of a New Jersey girl who is working hard to make it to the top. For Sherry Lynn there is no turning back. She’s well on her way – and that first step is far behind her now.
For everything I’ve accomplished there are a million more to go. There are a lot of things in the works right now Lynn confides. More music more shows more everything. This is the journey of a lifetime for me.
